World War One

100 years ago New Zealand soldiers were sent to war to battle for our country many soldiers were killed in war and wounded.Soldiers were living in trenches that were extremely dirty. Soldiers were living
In discugsting conditions.Soldiers would battle at dawn and rested at day.Animals such as donkeys, cats, and dogs were used as animal mascots at World War One.Dogs were the most interesting animal out of the three because the dogs were trained to clean up the wounded soldiers to the lady doctors.
Most soldiers got either trench foot, never ending itchiness, or they smelt really. One interesting fact about a Pelorus Jack. In World War One the Pelorus Jack fell down a funnel and died instantly, some soldiers would describe the Pelorus Jack as a great pet mascot.Pelorus Jack was fully black with very little spots. The tragedy of the Pelorus Jack was sad but the soldiers replaced the Pelorus Jack with another PelorusJack.
