Camp Raglan

Day Three Update

We were pretty lucky with the weather today and managed to get through most of our activities with a little rain on the last one. It was an action packed day with back to back activities and a hot lunch of mini pizzas. Due to the afternoon rain we had free time of sports in the gym or a movie in the hall. Today's highlight was the legendary camp concert! After a hot roast beef dinner we huddled into the hall in our pj's and set in for a night of laughs. Even the parents performed a skit! We were exhausted last night and fell asleep pretty quickly.

Day Two Update
Wednesday was our first full day of camp. We started at 7:30am with Jump Jam to get our blood pumping before having breakfast. There were two activities before lunch (spaghetti on toast, YUM!) then we gathered our stuff and headed to the beach where we had our sculpture competition. It was a tough competition with some amazing designs. Next was sport, sand dunes, digging and some good old fashioned beach fun! Dinner was build your own burgers with home made wedges. After dinner we headed back down the stairs to the camp fire where we roasted marshmallows. There were many tired bodies at the end of a long day. Looking forward to another exciting day at camp tomorrow!

Day One Update
Yesterday we arrived at camp just after lunch. We stopped at Bridal Falls for a look at the amazing waterfall and a quick bite to eat. After arriving at camp, we met Rodger the man in charge and learnt all the new things we need to know about Camp Raglan. We had free time on the playground and time to unpack our beds before dinner. After dinner we went on a walk to find some Glow Worms - however we didn't see many. We also did a Burma Trial through the bush. It was so dark and we had to feel our way holding a rope. The adults were hiding along the path waiting to scare us! We have enjoyed our first day and look forward to tomorrow!

Final Newsletter - May 2015

CAMP FEES
The total for camp is $280.
All camp fees must be paid before Monday 11th May.
REMINDERS - MEDICATION
All Medication (named and in a plastic bag and with clear instructions) should be handed to Miss Lister prior to Camp – preferably on Tuesday morning, 19th May.
  • Inhalers: need to be clearly named. These will go into their group’s first aid kit, so they are available to them at all times and are not left behind in dorms when they are out on activities. If these could come in on Tuesday, this would be extremely helpful as well. These need to be handed in to Miss Lister (Room 3).
  • Travel sickness: If your child suffers from travel sickness, please bring in preventative medicine for Tuesday and Friday (returning) and give it to Miss Lister, e.g. sealegs.
  • Colds:  If your child has a slight cold and requires medicine for this, bring that in too. Please notify us if this is the case so we know how to look after them.
Biscuits: need to come in by Wednesday 13th May.  Thanks to those who have already brought them in.  Hand these to Mrs Dower in Rm 1.
Board Games: If you choose to bring in a small game, bring it to Rm 3.  Clearly named please.
Newspaper: please hand to Mrs Simpson in Rm 2.
TO BRING TO CAMP.
  • Lunch for Tuesday 19th May
All children need to have lunch and a drink for Tuesday. Drinks should be in a named plastic drink bottle. Lunches should be in a clearly named plastic bag.  We will put these in boxes for transportation so they do not arrive squashed or eaten.
·   Clearly named practical clothes are the order of the day for camp.  Please do not bring jewellery, make-up, or designer gear. Watches could be left at home. Please make sure children have plenty of warm clothes as the weather can be cold. They especially need two pairs of covered shoes.  Gumboots would also be an advantage.
·   Children may bring a digital camera but it is their responsibility.
  • Children need a warm sleeping bag. Although we can experience beautiful sunny days when the children only need T-shirts and shorts, the temperature always drops at night. If you are concerned that they will not be warm enough, please roll a blanket up with their sleeping bag.
  • All gear should be packed into ONE SOFT-SIDED bag.  No suitcases please. Sleeping Bags and pillows go on the bus with the children.
  • Children may bring Playing cards and a book. They also need a pen to write with.
  • Please do not bring mp3 players, ipods, digital games, toys, lollies or extra food.
  • Children are not to bring cell phones. If they need to ring home for any reason they will be able to use a staff phone.
  • Children do not need any money.
LEAVING FOR CAMP (Tuesday 19th May)
- Children are to go straight to the hall with their gear.
- We need the children going to camp to arrive at school from 8.15 a.m. and no later than 8.30am. We want to leave at 9.15am.
RETURNING FROM CAMP
We are returning on Friday May 22nd leaving Raglan at 12:30 p.m. and expect to be back at school at approximately 3.00 p.m.
